Students
are referred to Cardinal Cushing Center, Braintree, by
their local public school system. The public school system
sends a packet containing pertinent information about
the student for review. Once the packet is reviewed staff
from CCC contacts the parent/guardian to arrange for them
to come into school for an interview and a tour of the
facility. After touring the school, if the parent/guardian
feels that the program would be an appropriate for the
student, a half-day visit is arranged. When the prospective
student visits he/she is placed in a classroom with peers
who function at the same cognitive level. During the visit
all specialists observe the student and make their recommendations
to the admissions committee. Based on the consensus of
the team a letter of acceptance or rejection is sent to
the public school system and the family.
