Braintree St. Coletta Day School offers a vast array of services to our students. While not all-inclusive, the listing below
provides an overview of many of these services.
Language Development is provided by our speech and
language program using a total communication approach to foster
speech and language development within functional activities. Speech
and language therapy is conducted within the classroom setting to
promote a consistent carryover of each student's individual
objectives.
Adapted Physical
Education, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy provide
emphasis on each student developing his or her physical potential
through corrective therapies, sensory integration, motor
development programs, adapted aquatics, movement therapies,
therapeutic horseback riding, individual and team sports, and
participation in Special Olympics.
Recreational
Activities are offered within the regular school day program on
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. A variety of age appropriate
social and recreational activities are offered along with activities
for personal growth and enrichment.
The Arts Program
provides for an appreciation of art and music through a variety of
opportunities to use different media. The therapeutic value of
creativity is emphasized.
The Home, Community, and
Social Skills Training Program provides hands-on training in
functional community and adult daily living skills necessary for gaining the highest
degree of independence.
The Pre-vocational Workshop and Work Experience Program
provides students with opportunities to participate in work
activities commensurate with their abilities at the on-site
workshop, the off-site workshop, and various volunteer sites in the
community.
Behavioral Management
Services is based on an Applied Behavior Anaylsis and emphasizes specific behavior and intervention plans and
contracts which focus on positive reinforcement to enhance
adaptation and learning in various environments. Consultation is provided by a Board Certified Behavior Analysist on an as needed basis.
Clinical Services includes individual assessments, Behavior
Specialist. Information and referrals to outside providers
are made for students and their families.
Adult Evening School
is a 10-week program offered in the fall and the spring. It provides
recreational, educational, and social opportunities for persons with
disabilities who are over the age of 22. Classes offered include:
reading and writing, physical activities, arts and crafts, and
computer games and activities.
Curriculum and Services: In addition to our specialized
school program, Cardinal Cushing Center, Braintree offers many other
services such as: Academic Readiness Activities for Daily Living,
Crisis Intervention, Functional Academics, Occupation Therapy,
Physical Therapy, Pre-vocational/Vocational Training, Psychological
Evaluations, School Nursing Services, and Social Skills Development.
