It is an honor to have the opportunity to lead this vital organization and to invite you to learn more about our programs and people. I joined the universe of special needs nearly 30 years ago when my son, Jonathan, was born with Down syndrome and four heart defects. More than the educational degrees and professional experience that have led me to this position, the most valuable lessons I have learned have come from Jonathan and the many families and their children whom I have encountered as a parent, friend, and advocate.
Today, I have the privilege of working within a community of people who care deeply for the well-being of those we serve. Our two schools, adult living and working support programs, recreational, and social initiatives offer children and adults with intellectual disabilities opportunities for joy and fulfillment. A subsidized apartment complex for senior citizens and adults with handicaps, located on our Hanover campus, fosters inter-generational relationships that enrich the lives of residents and our students.
The interactions among staff, students, and clients are nurturing and compassionate. Guided by Franciscan values, we have set the highest standards for ourselves, because, like you, we want only the best for the people whose education and life experience has been entrusted to us.
