at Hanover is a 365-day residential school. We also
accept many day students.
The school provides academic, vocational and residential
programs for students with mild to severe developmental
disabilities, behavior, emotional and physical challenges.
Our mission is to enable people with special needs to achieve
their academic, vocational, social, and spiritual potential.
The commitment of the school is to work closely with other
agencies to offer innovative opportunities for people with
disabilities to become active and contributing members of
the community.
Our programs are designed to meet the individual
needs of each student.

The school is an integral part of Hanover
Massachusetts, a small town south of Boston. Residents of Hanover
and the surrounding towns have been very supportive.
They
attend events at the school, shop in the school's retail
center, and welcome students as members of their community.
Students work in local businesses, shop in area stores,
and participate in recreational activities in local facilities.
The school offers
functional academic programs in a classroom setting with
the emphasis on the acquisition of vocational and community
living skills. At an early age, students are introduced
to the concept of work by accepting responsibilities in
the classrooms and residential units. Our community-based
curriculum serves to expand the teaching environment thereby
reinforcing community and social skills taught in the classroom.
Life Skills Classrooms, for the younger children focus on
the acquisition of basic academic and functional skills.
Project Triangle Classrooms are designed for students with
more severe special needs and the focus is on basic life
skills.
The Prevocational Classrooms provide an introduction
to vocational education, with classroom instruction and
vocational training in the career sites.

The Vocational
Department offers vocational training opportunities in several
different areas, on and off campus.
Cardinal Cushing School
has implemented a life-skills curriculum used in both school
and residential programs. This curriculum addresses life
domains, with an emphasis on developing positive habits
and attitudes, and the ability to make decisions. The curriculum
includes elements of values, social skills and positive
personal relationships adapted to the specific needs of
each student.
