| Approximately 60 people from ministries that provide educational, vocational and residential programming for individuals of all backgrounds, varied ages and abilities, in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Maryland toured Cushing Centers.
The group, joined by Cushing Centers’ staff, attended the dedication ceremony of the Sisters’ Inn, a former residence of sisters who ministered at Cardinal Cushing School beginning in 1947. The Inn now serves as a vocational training program for students while providing a welcoming place for visitors.
“It is very appropriate that the Sisters, for whom hospitality is a hallmark, would have an inn named in their honor,” said Cushing Centers Board Chair John Boucher, president and CEO, South Shore Savings Bank. “In the tradition of the Sisters of St. Francis, the Sisters’ Inn serves as is a warm and welcoming place while providing constructive work experience to students with special needs.”
Cushing Centers President and CEO, Jo Ann Simons, together with Director of Corporate Ministries, Joanne Schatzlein, OSF, recognized the 18 Sisters of St. Francis in attendance as each was adorned with a carnation corsage.
