BJ's charity golf event
raises over $1M
The
BJ's Wholesale Club Inc.
announced Tuesday its annual charity golf
tournament raised nearly $1.3 million.
Proceeds from The BJ's Charity
Championship, a three-day golf tournament
held last summer, are administered through
the BJ's Charitable Foundation and support
community-based programs benefiting children
and families. The funds have supported more
than 150 community-based programs and more
than 70 organizations in New England.
Beneficiaries include St. Coletta & Cardinal
Cushing Schools in Massachusetts, the
Greater Boston Food Bank and Children's
Hospital Boston.
In two years, the golf tournament has
raised more than $2.3 million for charity.
Olay was the presenting sponsor for the
2006 tournament, which features 30
two-player teams from the Legends Tour
competing for a $500,000 purse.
The 2007 BJ's Charity Championship will
take place Aug. 3-5 at Granite Links Golf
Club in Quincy, Mass.
BJ's Wholesale Club Inc., headquartered
in Natick, Mass., operates 173 clubs and 96
gas stations in 16 states.
