New CEO named at St. Coletta & Cardinal Cushing Schools

Jo Ann Simons of Swampscott has been named president and chief executive officer of St. Coletta & Cardinal Cushing Schools of Massachusetts in Hanover. Her appointment is effective Monday. Simons has been executive director of the Arc of East Middlesex since 1993, and was formerly deputy superintendent of Fernald State School, director of policy for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation, president of the National Down Syndrome Congress and Special Olympics International board member. She is currently vice chairwoman of the National Down Syndrome Society. John Boucher, the school's board chairman, said Simons "has a history of building programs that foster a child's transition to maximum independence in adulthood."
