The Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner & Auction Sponsored by South Shore Savings Bank on Behalf of The 2010 Graduating Class of Cardinal Cushing Centers Raised a Record $113,000

Master of Ceremonies, Jonathan Elias of WBZ News, with Cardinal Cushing Centers’ Parent Diane Lyons, of Abington, and Pembroke resident John Boucher, President & CEO South Shore Savings Bank and Chair of Cardinal Cushing Centers Board of Directors.
The St. Patrick’s Day Dinner & Auction held on March 13th at Indian Pond Country Club, Kingston, was a resounding success, raising a record-breaking $113,000 on behalf of Cardinal Cushing Centers 2010 Graduating Class. Sponsored by South Shore Savings proceeds from this event will send the graduates and their chaperones on a Trip of a Lifetime to Disney World next month.

“Because of the incredible team at South Shore Savings, under John Boucher’s leadership, our graduates have a unique opportunity celebrate their accomplishments by taking a trip with their peers and form memories that they will treasure always,” said Jo Ann Simons, President and CEO of Cardinal Cushing Centers, Inc.

The evening featured silent and live auctions of some 200 items— trips, entertainment, gift certificates, household items, and jewelry—a performance by the Cardinal Cushing Centers Student Choir and a traditional Irish Dinner. Jonathan Elias, WBZ News Anchor, served as Masters of Ceremonies and Jim Fagan, of Sheilds Health Care Group, conducted the live auction.

“We have tremendous participation among the bank’s employees, and the businesses and individuals from the community step up in a major way that makes this event so extraordinary,” said John Boucher, South Shore Savings Bank’s President and CEO, and Chairman of the Cardinal Cushing Centers Board of Directors.

Cushing Student’s Art Featured at Zuzu’s in Cambridge

by Jim Sullivan

Steve Morse is a friend and former colleague of mine at the Boston Globe. We've done time in the trenches; we knocked back a few at bars. It's fair to say we've both had good times and bad and Steve suffered through the death of his wife Nell some years back. And their only son Nick Morse, has autism.. But Nick's an artist and his show just went up at Zuzu in Central Square and it runs all month at the small, intimate restaurant run by the brothers Sater, Joseph and Nabil. I asked Steve to send some jpgs of Nick's art - one of which you see here - and it's pretty darn cool. Noah Maltsberger, who works at Zuzu, considered Nick's art and said it was very upbeat and a nice change. (Some of Zuzu's art exhibitions are on the punkier, darker side of things.

Boyscouts spend an Overnight at
Camp Massasoit

Cardinal Cushing Boy Scout Troop 376 finished up their year by going to Camp Massasoit for an overnight camping trip. Both the scouts and staff members had been working all spring to prepare for the trip. All of the scouts earned their cooking and camping merit badges by attending the camping trip. For many of our scouts this was their first experience camping, everyone had a great time and can’t wait for next year's trip. For more pictures from the Boy Scouts' trip click here
