The Cushing
Country Bakery
 The
Cushing Country Bakery is part of the vocational program here at
Cardinal Cushing Centers. It is a working bakery, open to the
public, and is also a working classroom where students learn.
Vocational and
pre-vocational training are for students aged 18 to 22 years old.
Skills acquired in this working classroom will help students achieve
maximum independence as adults.
About 50 people visit the
bakery each day and the bakery gets busier around the holidays when
a lot of special orders come in.
Students and staff bake
Irish bread and shamrock cookies around Saint Patrick's Day.
At Thanksgiving and Christmas, small pumpkin and cranberry loaves
appear. And if it's your birthday? The Bakery's
signature M&M cake in a variety of flavors can be yours for just
$6.00
Customers can order trays
of cakes or magic squares, dozens of cookies, or scones for a
breakfast meeting. Scones are very popular.
