Housing
Cardinal
Cushing Centers 365-day residential program boasts realistic,
comfortable, home-like settings conducive to learning the life skills
students need to prosper following graduation.
A growing number of students with more intensive needs and
complex disabilities are turning to us for support. More and
more students turning twenty-two come to us requiring continued
supports in order to live and work independently within the
community. St. Coletta & Cardinal Cushing Schools continues to
pioneer new and better models for the most effective ideas in
teaching, vocational training, and independent living through
cutting-edge facilities, curriculum, and programs.
Skills
like cooking and laundry are some of the basic life skills we teach
in the residential units. The homes allow a high degree of
dignity with private or double bedrooms, ample handicapped
accessible bathrooms. Six students live in each home with
supervising staff.
The homes have a full kitchen for family style
dining as an alternative to cafeteria food. A common living
room is a nice contrast to the private bedroom.
We have created homes similar to ones where
students will live after graduation. We have several homes all
located in proximity to each other and other buildings on campus.
